Best hotels in Vegas for families

Between September to November is one of the cheapest times to visit Las Vegas. It is in between summer break and Thanksgiving, and the moderate temperature makes it one of the best times for visiting this exciting city. So let’s look at the best hotels in Vegas for families!

In my post on things to do in Vegas with kids, you can see that most of the activities are around the North and Mid strip, so my recommendation is to stay within that area, so you can potentially hit up multiple attractions in a day (before and after nap time, for example), but there are a couple of hotels south of the strip that are worth it.

When choosing the best hotels in Vegas for families, here are some criteria you may want to consider:

1. Larger rooms / suites / aparthotels – the bigger the better! When you all have to be in one room, it’s nice to feel like you have some of your own space.
2. Hotel amenities – washing machines are handy, and a shorter walk to the pool is nice.
3. Proximity to attractions – 20 minute uber rides each way can be a drag.
4. Proximity to convenience stores – For wipes, diapers, bottles of water, fruit, medicines, etc.

Here are some recommendations from lowest to highest price:

1. Golden Nugget Las Vegas

• Price Range: $100 – $250 per night – Check current prices
• Why It’s Good:
  • Good value, can get a large suite for under $400 a night.
  • Features The Tank, a pool with a waterslide that goes through a shark tank, which kids love.
  • Located downtown, close to the Fremont St experience and Discovery Children’s museum.
  • Access to numerous dining options downtown, often offering better value
• Location: Downtown Las Vegas (North strip)

2. Excalibur Hotel & Casino

• Price Range: $75 – $200 per night – Check current prices
• Why It’s Good:
  • Medieval-themed and budget-friendly, great for families.
  • Spacious rooms, with options for connecting rooms. Many have a fun castle view.
  • Features a large pool area, arcade, and Tournament of Kings dinner show.
• Location: South Strip

3. MGM Grand

• Price Range: $150 – $400 per night – Check current prices
• Why It’s Good:
  • Large, family-sized rooms with suites and connecting options.
  • The Grand Pool Complex has pools, and probably the BEST lazy river in Vegas, and cabanas.
  • Close to family-friendly dining and entertainment.

4. Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

• Why It’s Good:
  • 11-acre pool area with a wave pool, large beach with real sand and lazy river.
  • Spacious, updated rooms with connecting and suite options.
  • Shark Reef Aquarium and various family-friendly dining options.
• Location: South Strip

5. Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the Las Vegas Strip

• Price Range: $150 – $350 per night – Check current prices
• Why It’s Good:
  • One of the best hotels in Vegas for families, this all-suite hotel offers the most space for the price.
  • Condo-style suites with kitchens and multiple bedrooms.
  • Pools, BBQ areas, and a non-casino atmosphere for families.
• Location: North Strip

6. Vdara Hotel & Spa

• Price Range: $200 – $450 per night – Check current prices
• Why It’s Good:
  • All-suite, non-casino hotel with kitchenettes, and modern interiors, ideal for families.
  • Has a decent pool and reasonably priced cabanas for those seeking a less busy pool.
  • Walking distance to Aria’s amenities and Bellagio’s fountains.
• Location: Mid Strip

7. Conrad at Resorts World

• Price Range: $250 – $500 per night – Check current prices
• Why It’s Good:
  • Probably my pick for best hotel in Vegas for families – even the regular rooms are large at ~550 sq ft, with modern interiors.
  • Family-friendly pool areas, dining options, and easy access to the Strip.
  • Part of Resorts World, which offers a plethora of dining options.
• Location: North Strip

8. The Delano Las Vegas (W Las Vegas)

• Price Range: $250 – $600 per night – Check current prices
• Why It’s Good:
  • All-suite, non-gaming property with spacious rooms and separate living areas.
  • Access to Mandalay Bay’s pool complex, including a wave pool and lazy river.
  • Family-friendly dining options within Mandalay Bay.
• Location: South Strip (connected to Mandalay Bay)

9. Caesar’s Palace

• Why It’s Good:
  • On the pricier side, but suites are extra spacious and can accommodate large families.
  • Access to pools, arcade, gondola rides, and family-friendly dining.
  • Luxury amenities and direct access to The Venetian’s attractions.
• Location: Mid Strip
